Greens are good for you..

I can’t credit the original photographer, unfortunately, but this has got to be one of my favourite pictures that I re-stumbled across today. Definitely a WTF moment!

Sony Ericsson are looking to create a playstation gaming phone, and the plans have already been drawn up. According to the “gaming” boss (whatever one of those is), Peter Ahnegard it will be coming out Christmas, although as this article states, he didn’t say which one… [SHOW ME]

Just a quick post, for an awesome free screensaver. Now this is free, unlike the other screensavers that lure you in with false promises, only to dash all hope with a link to a “free” download (who actually pays to download anything?) which they think is justification for their claims.. So here it is, realtime fire effects on your desktop - quite satisfying when outlook bursts into flames in front of your face!! [SHOW ME]

Here we go again.. More laptop batteries are up for recall. This time they number about 1,400 and are all associated with Toshiba Satellite (A100 & A105) & Tecra (A7) laptops. If these companies were more concerned over the customer, rather than their bottom line, maybe we wouldn’t have this situation.. But then that’s like asking Sony to release a PS3 at a competitive price.. [SHOW ME] & [SHOW ME MORE]

Hang on, I’ve only seen one half life2 case mod, which is this one. Anyway, I’m sure you’ll all agree the amount of work that went into this mod must have been truly mind blowing.. And the results have the same effect. [SHOW ME]

The evil QRIO

You can see it now. They’re nice and shiny - small and cute. They’ll work their way into our hearts and our homes, perhaps with Japanese dance moves, and then bam they’ll gang up in their thousands on the street corners and take over our cities. But then again, the unconfirmed price tag of $50,000 is probably going to be the thing that ultimately protects us and foils their evil plans. And I’m not entirely convinced they’re even for sale.. Oh yeah, and the project has been closed down…

The Sony QRIO is a really cool and convincing looking robot. The movements are smooth and (almost) natural, which is a strange word to attach to such an obviously artificial thing. The video below is four of them in action in front of a crowd of reporters, doing some cool Taiko dance moves. Be aware though that the sound quality is pretty crappy.

301 from Force Dynamics

And when I say ultimate I mean it.. This device is really aimed at the corporate environment - I guess as an affordable replacement for track days, but if you have the money I’m sure they’ll be more than willing to sell you one! With sales all over the world of over 40 units they’re popular too.

The machine is capable of replicating forces on your body by tilting - replacing inertia with gravity. So as you brake in your game, the whole thing tilts you forward. As you accelerate around a right bend, it tilts to the left - thus fooling your body into thinking it’s being subjected to inertial forces. The screen is built straight onto the device also, so moves with you as you scream around corners. I would suggest anybody that suffers from motion sickness give this a miss - as it looks a little “intense” shall we say - even though apparently, the device is no different other than if you were in a real car, after talking to the people from Force Dynamics, but then we don’t normally sit through a rally stage do we? And I’m sure most of us would feel pretty sick after jumping in to a car with an insane rally driver!

I also know it’s pretty obvious - but the device does not come with any form of computer or software. They are also tailor made for anyone who wants one, hence the reason for no price on the website and they also suggest a 2 CPU platform as a minimum, as the information required by the “301″ can be quite intensive. Included in the media/video section you’ll be able to see this beast in action.[SHOW ME]
